Successful Learner: Sheila Curtis

 

Successful learner Sheila Curtis received runners-up in the Skills4Business, Learner of the Year award category at the Skills4Business annual event supported by the Learning and Skills Council (LSC).

 

After successfully completing her Lorry Loader training Sheila also completed training in the driving of Large Goods Vehicles. “The training has not only given me confidence in my professional life, but also in my personal life. I have learnt so much and I am very grateful to have had the training funded by Wiltshire & Swindon Learning & Skills Council.” said Sheila. All of our Training Express staff have been delighted with Sheila’s progress and determination throughout her training and wish Sheila the very best of luck in her career.

As part of their commitment to Investors in People and lifelong learning Aspire Defence employees from Warminster and Larkhill Garrison have been engaged in a planned programme of learning with Training Express.

 

Training Coordinator, Brieley Hart, said 'we offered Aspire a flexible programme that included Confined Space Entry, Working at Heights, Fire Warden and Manual Handling NVQ Co-coordinator, Chrissy Morris, said 'in addition to the training different groups of employees have been successfully assessed for their NVQ in Warehouse & Distribution, and Business Administration.

 

 

 

 

Black Horse Contractors:

3G Mobile Technology Delivers 'Health & Safety' Training on the Move!

 

Construction workers in the South West are using 3G Mobile Technology to gain health and safety skills that meet the requirements for the Skilled Workers Plant cscs card. Local Training Provider Training Express are piloting the use of 3G with the Cricklade based Company, Black Horse Construction. Kevin Tupley, Training Manager at Blackhorse said ‘The innovative use of 3G technology by Training Express has meant that health and safety testing on site for our employees has proven to be extremely cost effective. At the moment we are working towards all our plant operators achieving NVQ level 2 to meet the stringent requirements of the Construction Skills Certification Scheme.’
